Good times and Silent Discos at Brig O Doon | Chris & Emma

Happy Tuesday everyone.

2 blogs in a week? You know it! This one is yet another absolute beauty. Emma and Chris at Brig O Doon House Hotel. Arguably one of the most iconic wedding venues in Scotland, steeped in history and Scottish tradition.

I met Emma and Chris back in 2017 when Emma was a bridesmaid for Kathleen and Ryan so to hear from her when Chris popped the question was amazing. The full day was held at the hotel with everyone getting ready there. I love it when the entire day is in the one venue as the day flows so nicely and it takes a lot of the rushing about and stress out of the day. You can wake up, have some breakfast and know that you’re only metres away from your wedding.

One of the best parts about being a wedding photographer is obviously being part of these huge life events for people and getting a VIP pass to the entire thing. I love it, but my 2nd favourite thing about this job is that I often get to see my previous couples again and maybe some guests who have been at other weddings I’ve photographed. It’s always good to catch up and there was bunch here who I had met before including Kathleen repaying the favour by being one of Emma’s bridesmaids.

After spending the morning with the girls being pampered by the dream team JoJo and Holly from Be You Hair and Make Up (shout out to JoJo who’s wedding I was supposed to be photographing later this month but is rescheduled due to the c-word) and then I nipped across to the hotel to grab some final details of Chris getting ready.

The atmosphere at this wedding was amazing. After a gorgeous and hilarious ceremony performed by Sandy Geddes everyone headed outside for drinks and canapes whilst we grabbed some family pictures and some beautiful portraits of Chris & Emma before heading in for some top notch speeches.

Then the highlight of the day, the reception. I LOVE a busy dancefloor (who doesn’t?) and these guys filled it completely. During the break, Emma and Chris had arranged for a silent disco. This is the first time I;ve seen one at a wedding and I cannot recommend it enough. Absolutely hilarious watching people do the macarena and right next to them could be a couple slow dancing as each channel had a different song playing. It was great!

I absolutely loved being part of their wedding and I’ll end this blog with a huge congratulations to Chris & Emma as they are set to become parents later this year :)
