Turnberry Wedding Photography | John & Lisa

Hello all. How are we doing? Sick of talking about Covid-19? Aye, me too. It’s depressing BUT, in light of a pretty sad situation I like to see the positives.

Here’s some positivity that has resulted from this lockdown situation.

  • We finally get to stop. It may be forced but it’s good to slow down.

  • It has really shown us what is important in life. We’ve learned to appreciate the lives we lead.

  • Although we may not be able to freely visit friends and family, we are getting to spend a lot of quality time with our spouses and children. I’m absolutely loving having my wife around all day every day and the extra time with Imogen is fantastic.

  • So many of us will be working on new projects, hobbies and businesses. I’m excited to see what comes out of all this.

  • We’re making more effort to keep in touch with friends and family. I’ve never used video chats so much in my life.

  • The world is healthier. Our emissions have reduced and the world is better for it. The air is fresher and the water is clearer.

There’s a lot more I could list there but this isn’t a blog about the current pandemic. It’s about something that I am dearly missing at the moment and cannot wait to get back to once this is all over. This is a blog about love, happiness, family, friendships, celebration and GOOD VIBES!!!! It’s about an amazing couple throwing a huge wedding to celebrate their love with all their closest friends and family and I can tell you, it was a blast!

John and Lisa got married at their local chapel, St Brides, in East Kilbride (one of the most unique chapels I’ve ever seen) and then made their way, along with 200 on their nearest and dearest, to the impressive Turnberry on one of the sunniest afternoons of the year.

There was a lot of familiar faces at their wedding as I photographed 3 weddings from the same friend group within the space of 3 months. Kris and Laura (just had baby! Congrats!) as well as Ross and Claire whos wedding was a couple of weeks after John and Lisa. It’s always good to see past and future couples at weddings and a lot of their guests. I miss them all actually.

Now what can I say about John & Lisa. The words that come to mind are, chilled, happy, smiley, laid back, free spirited. I absolutely loved spending the morning with Lisa and her bridesmaids. The atmosphere was just what I expect from bridal prep and the prosecco was freely flowing. Lisa wore a stunning dress from Eleganza Spoza and she looked absolutely phenomenal! It was the perfect dress for her.

After their ceremony in East Kilbride, the sun popped it’s head out for the nice drive to Turnberry. Guests mingled outside admiring the view over the water before sitting down to witness some of the best speeches I’ve heard yet. You can tell by the pictures that some of the jokes were close to the bone and just how we like it.

After dinner, we sneaked off down to the lighthouse and by this point the sun was on it’s way down. It looked gorgeous but the wind would have cut you in two. Shout out to Lisa for braving the cold, it was absolutely worth heading out for those pictures.

A very special part of the day was John and Lisa’s first dance. They took to the dancefloor and were serenaded by Lisa’s brother who wrote and performed the song just for them. A pretty special moment to witness. After that, the party went into overdrive and it was the perfect end to the day.

Congratulation John and Lisa, you guys are amazing!

No more Covid-19 chat, enjoy the photos.
