The Cruin Wedding Photographer.
When you’re around Greg and Grace. It’s a good time. They are the definition of positive vibes and their happiness is infectious. Throughout all our email chats, Grace was funny so I knew they would be great to be around but after meeting them in person and seeing that they handled a drizzly scottish evening with nothing but smiles and positivity, I knew the wedding would be even better…and I was right.

For their wedding in September 2019, the weather was absolutely gorgeous. Their wedding venue, The Cruin, sits on one of the most perfect spots looking out over Loch Lomond and was the perfect backdrop for their outdoor ceremony.

The Rhynd Wedding Photography St Andrews Wedding Photographer The Rhynd

Where to begin with this one. I met Heather and Matt back in 2018 when I was photographing the incredible wedding of Lauren and Andy. Heather was one of Laurens bridesmaids and I remembered her being a really happy and bubbly person, so when Matt popped the question and Heather got in touch to be their photographer, I jumped at the chance. Heather and Matt are such happy smiley and positive people that I knew straight away their wedding was going to match their amazing personalities, I was not wrong.

I started the day early with Matt and the boys as they got the blood pumping with some touch rugby at the St Andrews Uni playing fields. Some might say playing Rugby on your wedding morning might be a tad risky but what an amazing start to the day. The boys were on their best behaviour and there were no broken ankles or bloody noses, just a lot of cans of Tennants. Afterwards, I headed down the road to see Heather and the girls and as expected, there was nothing but happy faces and dancing in the kitchen.

Why have I taken so long to get this wedding to you all? I’ve no idea! This wedding was so good that I think I was just holding out for what I felt like was the perfect time and what better time than now?!

I bring to you, Danni and Andy’s New Zealand/Scottish wedding at one of my favourite places, Dalduff Farm. There are so many things I love about this wedding but at the very top of the list, is the people. What a flippin’ great bunch of people they are. Danni is from NZ and it was amazing to see so many friends and family making the trip over for the big day. I’ll never tire of listening to their gorgeous accent.

The full day took place at the Farm and after another hilarious ceremony performed by Sandy Geddes, everyone stayed outside drinking in the sun.

Crossbasket Castle Wedding Photography

There’s one thing you’ll never hear a photographer saying no to…A confetti picture. We love them! The number 1 rule for making sure these pictures are epic is to buy enough confetti (biodegradable of course) to give every person at your wedding a good handful…and then double it. The more the better is absolutely true when it comes to confetti shots. Within this blog is probably my favourite ever confetti picture.

Today, I bring to you Chris & Tania. They got married last summer at the truly stunning, Crossbasket Castle. So many good memories of this day and working with Chris and Tania was a pleasure. 2 laid back souls and lovely to be around. The sun was shining and the castle was styled by an abundance of flowers (another thing you can;’t have too much of) supplied by Kirstie’s Flowers. It was a gorgeous environment to be around all day.

When I met them for their pre wedding meeting, they told me they just wanted to have a good time. They certainly succeeded. It was a tremendous day and I am so glad to played a part in it all.

Chris & Tania, thank you so much for having me along for the day. You guys are amazing!

Brig O Doon House Hotel Wedding Photographer

Happy Tuesday everyone.

2 blogs in a week? You know it! This one is yet another absolute beauty. Emma and Chris at Brig O Doon House Hotel. Arguably one of the most iconic wedding venues in Scotland, steeped in history and Scottish tradition.

I met Emma and Chris back in 2017 when Emma was a bridesmaid for Kathleen and Ryan so to hear from her when Chris popped the question was amazing. The full day was held at the hotel with everyone getting ready there. I love it when the entire day is in the one venue as the day flows so nicely and it takes a lot of the rushing about and stress out of the day. You can wake up, have some breakfast and know that you’re only metres away from your wedding.

What do I say about Nikki and Richard and their absolutely gorgeous GG’s Yard wedding? The words that come to mind are “absolute f!%$*&g’ quality!” I loved it!

The day started off at Nikki’s parents house where the girls along with Nikki’s dad and brother chilled out and sipped champagne whilst the mua and hair did their thing. It was then off to Dalry to St Johns which is a gorgeous quaint little church where vows were promised and the tears flowed. They’re married!

Best Wedding Photographer Scotland

As per usual, I’m late to the party but here is my 2019 “best of” blog. I put quotation marks around “best of” because if you’ve been following my work for the last few years then you’ll maybe know that I don’t really care about making sure that the images I show are the absolute best of the best, or technically perfect etc. I just want to some up the year with a load of great moments and to make anyone looking at them, feel good.

Upon making this blog, I quickly went through all my 2019 wedding galleries and saved ANY image that made me feel happy. I ended up with 729 haha but you’ll be happy to know that I picked out 200 for this post.

I want to start this blog by showing you THE BEST thing that happened in 2019. Imogen. She’s one now and is more of a cookiebun than ever. It’s only right that she gets centre stage. Here’s a picture from just last week where she’s chilling out looking at herself on my phone. She’s a poser already.

Kinkell Byre Wdding Photography | St Andrews Wedding Photography.

Why do St Andrews weddings always totally knock it out the park? The weddings there are always so good! Amanda and Glen’s was no different, a truly fantastic wedding in such a gorgeous setting.

The day started off with me at Amanda’s parent house in Lower Largo and my trusty 2nd Martin, spent the morning with Glen before heading to the absolutely gorgeous Kinkell Byre which is dripping in lovely warm festoon style lighting making it feel extra cosy and a treat on the eyes.

Speaking of a treat for the eyes, you can see from the image above, Amanda and Glen are high on the good looking scale and with Amanda being an ex Eleganza Sposa employee, she was always going to look a million bucks in a jaw dropping dress which was, of course, from Eleganza Sposa. Glen looked very smart in his tartan trews from Slanj.

Dalduff Barn Wedding Photographer - The Barn at Dalduff.

It’s been a while but I’m back with another blog and this time it’s the ridiculously good wedding of Ross & Claire at the amazing Barn at Dalduff Farm.

I’ve known Ross for a long time. His less attractive brother, Scott, was my best man at my own wedding so it was an honour to photograph his big day. Photographing weddings for people you know is always a daunting experience. It should be more relaxed but I actually feel more pressure but these guys absolutely smashed it and it was very much an easy wedding to photograph as the atmosphere and vibe was amazing. A free bar and ping pong table might have had something to do with it, I dunno, but it was a crazy good wedding.

Claire, you looked incredible and spending the morning with you and your family was great. Ross, you did well not to pull faces to the camera all day. I know that was hard for you but you did it! Thanks for having me along and for being so great to photograph. It was a pleasure.

If you love those urban city vibes then you are in for a treat today. Abi and Blair on a scorching sunny day in one of Glasgows most Iconic areas, the Barras! This magnificent pair got married at the absolutely gorgeous Barras Art and Design (BAaD) and it was such an amazingly chilled day.

Abi and Blair are a couple who balance each other out perfectly. Before their wedding, we met up for a coffee and a catch up and straight off the bat we chatted away about all things life before getting into the wedding details. It was like chatting with friends and I left feeling super excited for their big day which did not disappoint.

It’s been a month since my last blog but hopefully it won’t be as long till my next one. I’m shooting so many amazing weddings that it’s hard to keep up with the blogging but I’ll be plodding away as they need to be seen!

This was an extremely special one. Liana and Robert at the National Mining Museum in Edinburgh. Such a unique and amazing couple and the same can be said about the venue. The rise in more alternative venues recently is very welcome and I’m loving going to new places and feeling even more inspired than normal.

Other wedding photographers will likely agree that photography is a very personal thing. Couples look through lots of wedding photographers before choosing the one they connect with most. It’s the same on the photographers side too. I need to feel like I am the right man for the job and I’m not the photographer for everyone. There’s plenty people who look at my website and will click off the page instantly. They’re looking for something else and I’m glad, because it means I only get the couples who really feel a connection with my work and I’m hired because people want me to document their day and not just because it’s the norm to have a photographer at your wedding. It’s this connection that makes me so happy whenever my couples weddings come around and I get to see them again. I’m welcomed into peoples homes and treated as a friend as well as getting a VIP pass to parts of the wedding that nobody else gets to see, the cherry on the cake is handing over their finished gallery with cherished memories of such an amazing and fast paced day.

We’ve hit the thick of it now people! Bloggmageddon is upon us and I have another absolute belter for you. The venue of choice for this one, Knockraich Farm. A hidden gem sitting in the quaint little town of Fintry, Knockraich is a fantastic venue to host a good ol’ knees up wedding. You can get married outside surrounded by stunning views of the Campsies ( I think it’s the Campsies??) or you could choose to be married in the Stone Bothy which is an old pig shed (don’t worry, it’s super clean and lovely) then move next door to the Tin Shed where you can party the night away. I’m loving the barns these days. The big rows of tables and rustic vibes are gorgeous. It’s a venue I would love to return to soon.

Hafton Castle Wedding Photographer | Caitlin and Adam

What do you get when you cross a brewery owner, big bunch of close friends and family and a rented castle for the weekend? The answer: See below.

Caitlin and Adam are the epitome of non traditional. They had a non wedding wedding and even though that sounds weird cos it was totally a wedding…it just had a completely different feel and I tell you…I liked it. They rented out Hafton Castle, A short 15 minute ferry ride over the water to Dunoon and the castle sits right on the bank with a gorgeous view over the River Clyde (I think).

Super laid back, super fun and exactly how I feel a wedding should be. This was a special one and I have made a bunch of new friends for life.

These blog posts are getting longer and longer. My apologies but the weddings have been so good that I just go a bit mental with the images.

Let me introduce you to Clare and Tim. A couple of clever clog Vets who got married in the ruins of Dunglass Estate and it was truly an amazing day. We got overcast skies, buckets of rain and then the juiciest of golden hours. I actually took them out 3 times for their pictures because the light kept getting better and better.

Barn weddings are certainly not unusual these days but Harelaw Farm must be one of the best out there. When you mix a great venue, amazing weather and the best people, you get a photographers dream and it is my pleasure to present to you the wedding of the hilarious…Amanda and Jordan.

From start to finish, there was nothing but smiles, laughter and a damn good time. These 2 were amazing and the whole day was over in a flash. Amanda looked gorgeous in a stunning June Brides dress whilst Jordan nailed the dapper gent look in a fitted suit from Slaters Menswear.

Harburn Barn Wedding Photography

This is 100% the longest blog post I have posted yet. There’s just too much good stuff going on and so many happy faces.

Rachel and Rory got married at The Barn at Harburn. A gorgeous estate with stunning greenery, rustic vibes and it was styled to perfection with the help of The Floral Design Boutiques gorgeous floral arrangements and the creativity from Rachel and Rory. The whole place looked amazing and I was close to taking a chomp out of the Grace & Co. cake. The only thing that stopped me was the pile of doughnuts next to it. I can’t resist.

Everything about this day was just amazing. The weather was kind of all over the place but it rained when it didn’t matter and that’s fine by me. Everyone spilled out into the gardens for some mini golf, or hung about in the courtyard sitting on hay bales. Sometimes when people are spread all over the place it can take away some of the atmosphere on the day but not today, it was like a festival.

DUNS CASTLE WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHS | ROSS ALEXANDER PHOTOGRAPHY

I really really do not know where to start with this one but here goes.

Holly and Matt are from Canada, but live in the US. Initially, when they got in touch, they talked pretty casually about being in Scotland travelling. They happened to stumble across Duns Castle and thought it would be a pretty cool place to have their wedding and so decided to bring over some friends and family and have a nice chilled wedding day. It all sounded lovely.

t's no secret that I love weddings and especially the big ones with loads of guests. There's lots to photograph and I love seeing everyone enjoying themselves. Greenbank Gardens Wedding Photographs | Lauren and Andy

You know when you go to a wedding and you just know it's going to be a total corker of day! Well I had this feeling from the moment I met Lauren and Andy. They are 2 very special and very hardworking people, I'm lucky that I was asked to be part of this outstanding wedding day.

I had my trusty 2nd shooter, Martin, with me to handle Groom prep whilst I tackled the bridal prep and after a beautiful church ceremony, we headed off to the hidden gem that is Greenbank Gardens. The weather was stonkingly good, a little to good for us photographers (photographing in the bright sun is hard y'all) but with gardens like Greenbank there was absolutely no complaining. It's a stunning place!

2018 has taken me over to the East Coast more times in the last 3 months than in my whole wedding photography career and I have to say...I have been missing out.

Jack and Lauren currently live in London (Check out Jack's company, Analogue Motion, they're currently absolutely smashing a Kickstarter campaign) but home was the only place for them when it came to the wedding. Choosing Lower College Hall in St Salvadors Quadrangle, St Andrews University for their ceremony and the quaint Crail Community Hall for their reception, it was bloody beautiful. It was one of the nicest days of the year so far.

Cambo Estate Wedding Photography | Sarah and Ally

How do I describe just how good this wedding was? Imagine a freshly made doughnut enveloped in a blanket of sugar, with hot nutella drizzled over the top. Sarah and Ally's wedding was the equivalent of that. It was delicious!

I shot their engagement shoot at the start of the year in the crazy snow at the top of Blackford Hill in Edinburgh and I knew instantly that these guys were straight up perfect! I was excited for the wedding and certainly wasn't disappointed.

Cambo Estate, sits on the east coast at St Andrews and is basically a photographers dream. With its stunning exterior, grounds and stunning stately home interior it really is a photographers playground. The added bonus is the courtyard with a bar and fire pit leading into the old barn which is amazing with it's indoor/outdoor feel to it. This is a serious contender for my favourite venue yet. It is perfect and Louise (wedding coordinator) runs it in the most chilled and relaxed way. No stress.

I first met Marc in 1999. We were both fresh faced 16 year olds working in our local leisure centre for beer money. He was actually one the first people I met when I started. He had started working there a few months before me. It's bonkers to think that almost 20 years later, I'd be photographing his wedding. There's always something a little bit different about photographing a friends wedding. I suppose in some ways, it's a little more special and it's the best feeling when they trust me with such a task especially when they've seen me staggering about and eating a pizza crunch at 3am on a few occasions.

Glasgow West End Cottiers Wedding | Ross and Nicola

2017 has been the year of City weddings for me...and I have loved it. There's something about the architecture, the atmosphere, the hustle and bustle that makes weddings in the city that little bit more exciting.

Nic and Ross got in touch in late 2016 and from the first email, I knew they were my kinda people. They travelled up from London to their home town and got hitched in the wonderful Cottiers Theatre. As always, it delivered. It was a rainy day (in July for goodness sake) but we were lucky enough to get a break in the rain, right after the ceremony allowing us to take a wander around Glasgows West End.

Gemma and Peters wedding is one that I was really excited about as soon as Gemma's enquiry hit my inbox. 29 Glasgow was a venue that I had seen popping up on various blogs and I really wanted to shoot there, so when Gemma and Peter hired me for their wedding there, I was really happy. Things got better and better each time I spoke with Gemma. She was telling me about the little details they were having and that her dress was vintage beaded from Sarah Louise Bridal , this was all music to my ears.
